Pastor Chad is a native of Gordo, Alabama. He grew up in a Christian home where he had the opportunity to hear the gospel at an early age. He responded to the gospel during a summer revival in his home church at the age of nine. During his high school years, God began to impress upon Chad a desire for ministry. At the age of nineteen, Chad accepted God’s call to ministry. He has served the Lord as a supply preacher, youth minister, and volunteer missionary. His missions experience includes various short term summer trips in the United States. He has traveled multiple times to Uganda, Africa to train local pastors. He has served the past 12 years as pastor to churches in North Carolina and Alabama. He has been the pastor of Salem since February 2012. Chad is a graduate of the University of Mobile (Mobile, AL) and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Wake Forest, NC).
Pastor Chad is the husband of Melissa (Tew) Manion, a native of Wilmington, NC. He has been married since January 2001. God has blessed Chad and Melissa with 3 daughters Lucy, Josie, and Carrie and 1 son, Sam. He is an avid fan of college football (War Eagle) and enjoys hunting and fishing. His greatest ministry is to his family and enjoys spending his free time relaxing with his wife and children.

Glenda Gunter became the church secretary/bookkeeper for Salem in October 2014. She is a lifelong resident of Pike County. She has been married to her husband Roger for over 50 years. They have two children, Tonya and Shaun, and four grandchildren. Glenda enjoys decorating her home and vacationing in the Smoky Mountains.
