Bobby and Sue Hood

Bobby and Sue Hood (Pastor and Wife)

Bobby Terrell Hood was born in Laurel, MS. He grew up on a small farm just inside the city limits of the small town of Ellisville, MS, where he attended elementary school, high school, and junior college.

He became a baptized believer and member of the West Ellisville Baptist Church in 1954. In school he participated in drama, intramural activities, and chorus, and he was an All Star Football Player in high school who received scholarships to play football in college, but was led instead to accept God’s call to church related vocations.

His education has included studies at Jones County Junior College, Ellisville, MS, William Carey College (B. A.), Hattiesburg, MS, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (ThM., and MCM.), New Orleans, LA, and the Instituto de Lingua Espanola, San Jose, Costa Rica, Central America.

He has been married to the former Sue Bates of Pascagoula, MS (born in Elkmont, AL) for 45 years. They have two grown children both of whom are married. Lauri Hood Fine is married to Lewis Fine and they live out from Ellisville, Mississippi. Bryan is married to Beth Harrison Hood and they have three children: Christopher (9 years old) and Kaylee ( 6 years old), and Camden (almost three), and they live in Clinton, Mississippi.

Bobby and Sue were appointed as missionaries in 1971, and studied Spanish in San Jose, Costa Rica, Central America, before going to their country of service, Argentina. Bobby has served in Baptist Associations as Sunday School Director, Evangelism Director, Music Director, Discipleship Training Director, President of the Minister’s Conference, and as Chairman of the Baptist Association’s Membership Committee, Chairman of Association Christian Action Committee, and member of the Mission’s Council.

He also helped found and served as president of Law Enforcement Chaplains with the Laurel Police Department, Laurel, MS. He has served four terms as president of PTA’s in Louisiana and Mississippi. He was twice elected as the Moderator of the Greater New Orleans Baptist Association. He has been selected to preach the annual associational sermon in several of the associations in which he has served.

He has been pastor of the wonderful Salem Baptist Church since November of 2003. Presently,(along with his pastoral duties)he is helping Brundidge area pastors in their meetings, serves as a hospital chaplain, and Pike County Sheriff's Chaplain, and is the Assistant Governor of District 6880 of Rotary Internatonal. He is a Past President of the Brundidge Rotary Club, and 7 season member of the cast for "Come Home, It's Suppertime."

Ruth Ann Adams has worked as Secretary/Bookkeeper for Salem Baptist Church since September 1998. She and her husband Mike live in the Ansley community where the family attends Ansley Baptist church. They have four children - Mary and Rachel Watson and Audrey and Jason Adams.
